S t i l i m i t a t i o n e n oder P a r o d i e n bedeutender Komponisten sind keineswegs neu - es sei an die Orchestervariationen über "Kommt ein Vogel geflogen" von Siegfried Ochs erinnert - neu aber war 1966 die erste Fassung dieser Chorvariationen und es fanden sich viele Nachahmer.
Das Werk eignet sich auch sehr bei Chortreffen, man kann die Aufgaben auf verschiedene Chöre verteilen und trotzdem ein geschlossenes Werk aufführen.

Eine besondere Empfehlung möchten wir von Seiten des Verlages für dieses Werk aussprechen.

Die kleine Liedkantate „Wohl denen, die da wandeln“ fußt auf der Melodie von Heinrich Schütz aus dem Jahre 1661.
Sie enthält alle vier Strophen des Liedtextes von Cornelius Becker aus dem Jahre 1602 und kann im liturgischen Rahmen eines Gottesdienstes verwendet werden.
Die Spieldauer beträgt gut 3 Minuten.
Der Choralsatz von Schütz erklingt in der ersten und letzten Strophe in seiner ursprünglichen Form, wird aber ergänzt durch den Einsatz eines Klaviers (Keyboard), eines E-Basses und eines Trommelinstruments.
Hier kann wahlweise ein Cajón (Kistentrommel) oder eine Djembe, ggf. aber auch ein anderes Fellinstrument (z.B. Conga) verwendet werden. Der Rhythmus ist mit der Hand zu spielen und sollte eine begleitende, also keinesfalls dominante Rolle einnehmen. Der Einsatz mehrerer Trommelinstrumente (etwa eine Trommelgruppe) ist hier nicht zu empfehlen. Für Chor, Piano, E-Bass und Cajón gibt es eigene Stimmen.

The MESSE BASSE (sans op.) for three female voices and organ accompaniment, which was composed in 1881 and published in 1907, belongs with the lesser known works of the composer.
Up to the present this mass has been reserved to the repertoire of a few chamber choirs; that is why this arrangement for SATB chorus with organ/piano accompaniment aims at making this composition also approachable to church choirs.
As the MESSE BASSE is of medium difficulty and as it lasts only about 11 minutes there arise possibilities of performances both within the liturgy and as an addition to sacred concerts.
