Foreword
Hardly any other musical work than Peter and the Wolf by Sergeij Prokofjeff has had a decisive musical influence on generations of children. The programmatic and sometimes onomatopoeic musical language has opened the door to the world of classical music for many a child.
In a successful tonal language, Prokofjeff knows how to portray a character in the shortest possible time. The childishly naïve and cheerful Peter, the grumpy yet courageous grandfather, the high-spirited and squeaky-clean cheeky bird, the somewhat clumsy duck, the majestically sinister wolf or the loud hunters: after only a few seconds of music, everything is said.
The aim of the present arrangement is to arrange the individual characters in such a way that they can be played as soloists on the accordion. It is not a transcription of the complete work - but it is nevertheless suitable to introduce the protagonists, respectively to let them step up and down, in a possible performance of the story.
The second part adds musical elements that cannot be represented in solo playing.
