Allegro agitato

for violoncello and piano

This remained unknown work is preserved in a undated autograph. It is preserved in the manuscript collection of the Liceo Rossini in Pesaro. The intended occupation by the composer gives us a riddle, since the piece in the manuscript is not expressly cello -Solo in the invoice of the piece speaks not necessarily for a solo conception.

From the musical as well as practical performance reasons the publisher has added a piano accompaniment (ad libitum), which sees itself as a suggestion to the artist. Of course you can also perform this piece solo or accompanied with other instruments (eg guitar). A transcription of the predominantly chordal accompaniment parts set can be set up easily.
The contrasting middle section (Andantino Grazioso) is a self-quotation from Rossini's "Une larme", a work for voice and piano. The cello part of the "Allegro agitato" is based on the singing voice of that song. As a piano accompaniment of the middle part of the original piano part from Rossini's "Une larma" has been accepted for this issue. The fact that Rossini quotes from a work for voice with piano, should speak in favor of a performance of this composition for cello with added accompaniment.
