15 Easy Dances for School Orchestra
arranged by Adolf Ferdinand Packeiser

Preface

The 15 Dances are from John Playford’s „The English Dancing Master“, published first in 1 6 5 1 and later editions.
The arrangements were put into suitable keys. Second voice and chords were added; cello and bass were kept simple. Harpists can work away with simple patterns of tonic triads in root position. Missing instruments can be played on keyboards, and even timpani can be found in the tunable section of many keyboards.
The solo – tutti contrast is very common in Barock with its terrace dynamics and guarantees a colorful spectrum of possibilities.
I hope, you will have as much as fun as the musicians and I had over the years here in Cahersiveen, performing these magnificent dances.
The CD shows, what possibilities there are.

This work would never have been completed without the work on the computer by Jochen Tovote to whom I am very grateful.

Adolf Ferdinand Packeiser
